Spring Trend: High Waisted Maxi Skirts

Now that we have beautiful weather upon us, people are wasting no time getting their kit off and out in the sun. However, less is always more and a women should always as Coco Chanel said, be two things, classy and elegant.  Long skirts are perfect for the weather, and can be teamed up with tops and jackets.

Here we have a burnt orange high-waisted skirt which we have paired with a short top that easily tucks in, and hence avoids any extra layers around the waist line. Denim jackets tend to work well with bright skirts, but if your feeling a bit rock chick you can always wear a black leather jacket.

A loose, casual scarf is comfortable in the summer heat, and simply wrapped around a bandanna, there is no need for pins. Finally, team up any summer outfit with lots of accessories like beaded bracelets which can be mixed and matched to go with anything.

Spring Wraps

Spring is here!! We well and truly missed it, and for those of us in the UK it might mean we get a little more sneak peaks of the sun, thats been missing in action over the last months.

However, while the sun maybe out, it is not quite yet time for skirts and maxis, as it remains on the chilly side. Here we have an outfit inspiration modeled by Ade, that shows how to wear a winter wrap with your spring outfit. This mean you can still look chic enough for the sun, but not freeze your socks off :)

Dazzle in Stripes-Trend Alert and Review

Black and White stripes are one of the key trends this season, and have been seen all over the catwalk. H&M, Boohoo, and Zara are just some of the retailers that are going all out with palazzos, cropped trousers and shirts all featuring stripes. H&M in particular have cropped stripy trousers for a fantastic £7.99, and Ade is wearing them in this weeks feature below.

To complete the outfit, we are also showcasing two scarves from the Dazzle A-Head Hijab Boutique, which currently retails through their facebook page. Iman Fairbairn, who created the boutique in September 2011, prides herself in only selling elegant and chic scarves, whilst having a wide variety of styles and materials.

The first scarf, is part stripy and part floral, and is 100% polyester although it feels like a thin chiffon style material. It looks quite hard to pin down at first, but this is easily solved with an under scarf or bandana which keeps it in tact. It is great addition to your scarf selection for this season and available at an affordable price of £7.50. Click here to see it in their online store.

The second scarf featured from the Dazzle-a-Hijab Boutique is a blue swirl pashmina style hijab which is 100% acrylic and retails at £6.50. At first glance, I thought that I would find this hard to wear, as it looked thicker then the usual ones I pick out. However, it was surprisingly light on the head, and quite cool. Here it is teamed with the outfit for a summery look perfect for the warmer days to come. Click here to see the scarf in their online store

Both scarves are available in other colours; whilst there is a bigger selection on their page. It is definitely worth checking out!

Samihah London - Make Up Artist

One of the Hijablicious duo, Sammy, was recently asked to model for a shoot for a newly emerging London based makeup Artist – Samihah MUA.

Samihah is breaking out into the Bridal makeup market and had already been inundated with booking and requests for party makeup; she is based in North London but travels anywhere within the M25 and the outskirts of London.

Her makeup on Sammy

Samihah is self taught and has always had a passion for makeup, growing up she would always play around with different types of makeup and began to get requests by friends and family to do their theirs. With encouragement from former clients she decided to take the plunge and launch her own business.
An Example of Samihah's work
One thing I noticed during our photoshoot was that Samihah has a very good way at putting you at ease whilst doing your makeup; she makes you relax and ensures that any looks she carries out, is one which complements your features and that you feel yourself in.
Feel free to visit Samihah’s website and join her facebook group.
Anyone quoting ‘Hijablicious’ will get a 10% discount on their first booking!!! Let us know if you do!

Candylicious

Hijab candy is a small business run by two sisters; specialising in head scarves and scarf accessories.

When I first opened the parcel of Hijabs from HijabCandy, I will be honest, I was hesitant. I thought the prints and colours were very bold and too loud, but isn't everything worth giving a shot? And I'm very glad I did, because it proved that my reservations were wrongly placed. The quality of the hijabs is great, they are very light, have a good length and width and easy to drape and thus provide an ample amount of coverage. The colours are quite vivid and teamed with plain blocked colours they easily stand out and are perfect for dressing up a dull outfit. I've teamed both scarves with a simple outfit, the first is quite dressy and chic which would be ideal for an evening out, the second is more dressed down and casual.

I have also received some lovely accessories and pins from Hijab Candy, these cute polka bow pins are available from their website and add a cute addition to any outfit, they can also be used on blazer or even clutch bags to add a quirky touch,
